Pakistani military forces have announced plans for retaliatory operations following a deadly attack on a commando camp in Karachi that resulted in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to four others. There are now concerns about the potential for new attacks on Afghan territory…
In a statement, the Pakistani army has announced that it will initiate retaliatory operations aimed at punishing those responsible for the recent attack. Three assailants were killed, and a fourth, reportedly an Afghan national, was apprehended by security forces after being wounded.
The Pakistani army’s statement attributed responsibility for the attack to a group named Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which has been described as a proxy for India. It has reiterated that the military possesses a clear response strategy and will express its outrage over the loss of its personnel through intensified operations.
Although the statement did not specify the exact locations for these operations, experts believe that the army may be preparing for a new phase of cross-border offensives. Given recent military actions in Afghanistan, there is an increasing expectation that targeting border areas will persist.
According to a report from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), at least 372 civilians have lost their lives as a result of Pakistani military operations in Afghanistan by early April. However, due to restricted access for independent observers to border regions, the actual number of casualties may be higher.
