Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban government, has called on Western nations to alter their wartime policies. In an interview with Tolo News, he emphasized the importance of fostering positive relationships with all countries, particularly European nations.
Mujahid stated that establishing broad relations with other countries is a rational approach to safeguarding Afghanistan’s interests. He added that the Taliban government is actively seeking to expand its diplomatic interactions with various nations.
The Taliban spokesperson stressed that countries involved in the Afghan conflict must progress in their diplomatic relations with Kabul, highlighting the necessity of such a shift. While the Taliban’s ties with European nations face challenges due to human rights issues—especially concerning the status of women and girls—some European countries continue diplomatic communications with Kabul.
The Taliban aims to maintain and develop its relationships with different nations without relying on any specific bloc. Currently, Taliban diplomats are operating from several diplomatic missions in Europe, including in Berlin and the consulate in Bonn.
