Taliban Urges Western Nations to Rethink Afghan Policies and Enhance Diplomacy

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, has urged Western countries to revise their wartime policies and strengthen diplomatic relations with Kabul.

Taliban Calls for a Shift in Western Wartime Policies

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban government, has requested that Western nations change their policies related to the war in Afghanistan. In an interview with Tolo News, he emphasized the significance of fostering positive relations with all countries, especially European nations.

Mujahid mentioned that establishing wide-ranging ties with countries is a rational approach to safeguarding Afghanistan’s interests. He added that the Taliban administration is actively seeking to expand its diplomatic engagements with various nations.

Taliban Diplomats Active in Europe

The Taliban spokesperson highlighted that countries that previously participated in the Afghan war must make progress in their diplomatic relations with Kabul, asserting that this shift is essential. Although the Taliban’s relations with European countries face challenges due to human rights issues, particularly concerning the rights of women and girls, several European nations continue to engage diplomatically with Kabul.

Currently, the Taliban is striving to maintain and develop its relationships with various countries without being reliant on a specific bloc. Presently, Taliban diplomats are active in several of Afghanistan’s diplomatic missions in Europe, including in Berlin and the consulate in Bonn.
