The Taliban government’s embassy in Islamabad recently announced that it is pursuing the matter of several Afghan refugees’ property being auctioned in the Chakwal area of Punjab. In a message posted on the platform X, the embassy stated that a delegation had traveled to Chakwal to assess the situation of the refugees’ assets and observe their living conditions.

Meetings with Local Officials

During their visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with local officials about the status of the refugees’ properties and is striving to find a legal and appropriate solution. The aim is to prevent the loss of livelihood and property for these refugees. Local authorities in Pakistan have also expressed their willingness to cooperate on this issue.

Increasing Auctions and Refugee Expulsions

This report comes amid a backdrop of intensified expulsions of Afghan refugees by the Pakistani government over the past three years. Previously, due to deadlines set by Pakistani officials, some refugees were forced to auction their belongings.
