Russia Warns Against Western Military Expansion in Central Asia Amid Afghan Threat Exaggerations

During an official meeting, Alexei Shuftsov, deputy to the Russian Security Council, announced that Western nations are leveraging heightened security threats from Afghanistan to expand their military infrastructure in Central Asia. He emphasized that this tactic is being used to rationalize a greater military presence in the region.

Western Military Aims in Central Asia

Shuftsov noted that security concerns regarding Afghanistan are being used as a strategy by the West to bolster its influence in Eurasia. He added that despite the economic struggles faced by Western countries, they do not relent in their endeavors to instigate instability in the region due to the significance of natural resources and logistical routes.

Eurasian Destabilization: The West’s Security Narrative

This Russian official reminded attendees that Western efforts to destabilize extend beyond Central Asia, encompassing Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Southern Caucasus, Western Asia, the vicinity of Myanmar, and the Taiwan Strait. He identified the ultimate goal of these policies as control over resources and supply chains.

Taliban: Afghan Soil Should Not Be Used to Threaten Others

Shuftsov’s remarks come at a time when Taliban officials have consistently rejected Western claims regarding the spread of insecurity from Afghanistan, emphasizing that Afghan territory will never be used against other countries.
