Ahmadullah, a resident of the Barmal district in Paktika province, emphasized that the demand for fuel is rising with the onset of colder weather, yet many are unable to afford it. “During this cold season, the need for fuel is more critical, but economic troubles prevent us from purchasing it,” he stated.

Farmanshah, a resident of Torkham, noted that unemployment, exacerbated by the closure of trade routes, has further intensified people’s economic hardships. He added, “The price of firewood ranges from 30 to 35 Afghanis, and even gathering this amount has become challenging for us.”
