The media office of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation reported the signing of an agreement between this body and the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) for aid to the earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan. This agreement aims to support families who suffered significant losses in terms of lives and property during the earthquake in September in the eastern provinces of the country.
According to this organization, the aforementioned agreement was signed by Mohammad bin Salman al-Khail, the executive director of the Islamic Solidarity Fund, and Mohammad Said Al-Ayash, the representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Afghanistan.
Based on the terms of the agreement, the office of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Kabul, in close collaboration with the Afghan Red Crescent Society, is responsible for identifying and distributing assistance to the affected families. The official statement from this organization mentioned that the process of sending aid will begin soon, and the goal of this action is to provide immediate relief to human suffering and rebuild trust among Islamic communities.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation emphasized that this initiative is part of the ongoing humanitarian mission of the Islamic Solidarity Fund in support of Muslim nations in crisis situations. In the statement from this body, it is noted that the recurring humanitarian crises in the Islamic world require a coordinated and heartfelt response, and this agreement is a step toward achieving this goal.
In September of this year, a powerful earthquake shook the eastern provinces of Afghanistan, including Nangarhar and Kunar, leaving dozens dead and injured. Hundreds of homes and infrastructure facilities were also destroyed in these areas. Following this incident, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation had requested member countries to provide financial and humanitarian assistance for the reconstruction of the affected areas.
