One year has passed since the devastating earthquake in Kunar, yet survivors are still living in tents. The lack of shelter, drinking water, and medical facilities has compounded their difficulties.
In Kunar province, survivors continue to live in tents a year after the deadly earthquake. They are urgently calling for shelter and essential services.
Statistics reveal that only 36 homes have been allocated to earthquake victims as per promises made by the Taliban government, which is alarmingly low. Most survivors are still waiting for permanent housing.
In mid-August, the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense announced that 36 homes had been constructed and handed over to the earthquake-affected individuals. However, survivors still face a critical shortage of adequate shelter.
The living conditions for survivors in Kunar are extremely challenging. The lack of clean drinking water and health facilities has intensified their daily struggles, putting the health of women and children at significant risk.
Despite the numerous pledges made in the aftermath of the earthquake for the reconstruction of the devastated areas, survivors are reporting that most of these promises have not been fulfilled, and they continue to live in tents.
