Soheil Shaheen, the head of the Taliban’s embassy in Doha, has recently announced that the current government of Afghanistan is keen on enhancing bilateral relations with various countries. He has urged the international community to take practical steps toward recognizing the Taliban, based on principles of mutual respect.
Shaheen explicitly stated that the group aims to strengthen bilateral relations with all nations grounded in constructive cooperation and mutual respect for rights. He has called on various countries to pay greater attention to the issue of recognizing the Taliban.
This Taliban official claims that in recent years, the group has succeeded in ensuring security across all regions of Afghanistan and has defended the territorial integrity of the country. According to Shaheen, many initiatives are underway to improve the economic situation, which could significantly remove serious barriers to recognizing the Taliban.
It is noteworthy that these statements come against a backdrop where the global community emphasizes the establishment of an inclusive government, respect for human rights, particularly those of women and girls in education and work, combating terrorist groups, and ensuring that Afghan territory is not used for attacks against other countries in order to recognize the Taliban.
