Following the deadly shooting on Friday (5th of Qaws) in Washington, which resulted in the death of a National Guard soldier and the injury of another, Soheil Shaheen, the Taliban ambassador in Qatar, issued unprecedented statements accusing Pakistan’s intelligence agency (ISI) of designing a conspiracy to discredit the Taliban government.
In an interview with an Indian media outlet, Shaheen presented his controversial claim as follows: Some foreign intelligence circles may be involved in this incident, and their goal is to portray Afghans as a security threat.
Despite these accusations, Shaheen reiterated the Taliban’s firm position that no party will be allowed to use Afghan soil for foreign attacks.
This direct accusation comes at a time when news sources have identified the armed attacker as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national, whose reports indicate a background of cooperation with several American agencies, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Security analysts believe that this incident shows the ongoing consequences of the American military withdrawal from Afghanistan and that the security crisis related to this country has not yet ended.
This event has once again brought the issues of domestic security and immigration management to the forefront of political discussions in America. Donald Trump, the country’s president, has promised stricter immigration policies in response to this incident.
In contrast, migrant rights organizations have warned that the violence and individual actions of one person should not be used as an excuse to pressure the entire migrant community and violate their human rights.
