Afghanistan National Futsal Team Kicks Off Continental Cup Against Thailand

The Afghanistan national futsal team is set to face the Thai national team, the hosts of the Continental Cup, in their opening match. This will mark the official debut of the squad under the new Serbian head coach, Dejan Djulovic.

First Test for New Coaching Staff

The match will take place on Sunday, August 11, at 6 PM Kabul time, and will serve as the initial official appearance of Dejan Djulovic and his new coaching staff in an international competition. The team’s performance in this tournament will be a critical assessment of the new coaches’ strategies and methodologies.

Absence of Afghanistan’s First-choice Goalkeeper

Unfortunately, the Afghan national team will be without their primary goalkeeper, Mohammad Javad Safari, for this tournament. As a result, Ali Ahmad Mohseni and Ahmad Esmaeili will be tasked with guarding the net for Afghanistan during the Continental Cup matches.

Continuing Afghanistan’s Futsal Success

In recent years, under the guidance of Iranian coach Majid Moradi, the Afghanistan national futsal team achieved significant results in international competitions, notably advancing to the round of 16 in the Futsal World Cup for the first time in history. The new coaching staff aims to build upon this success and secure positive results in the upcoming matches.

The Continental Cup: A Key Test for the National Team’s Future
