Taliban Government Confirms Repatriation of Afghan Lives Lost in Italy Fire

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of the Taliban government has confirmed the repatriation of the bodies of three Afghan citizens who tragically lost their lives about two months ago in a deadly fire in southern Italy. Italian police had previously detained two Pakistani nationals in connection with this case.

Repatriation of the Bodies to Kabul

The ministry announced via a message on social media platform X that the remains of these three Afghan citizens were transferred to Kabul on the 27th and 28th of July.

According to the ministry, the victims hailed from the provinces of Balkh, Parwan, and Nangarhar.

Incident Details in Southern Italy

Approximately two months ago, three Afghan nationals along with one Pakistani citizen died in a vehicle fire in southern Italy.

Following the incident, Italian police initiated an investigation and announced the arrest of two Pakistani supervisors suspected of involvement in the case. The judicial inquiry is ongoing.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the incident as a horrific crime and called for the identification and punishment of all those responsible.
