Breshna CEO and Uzbekistan Officials Forge Technical Collaboration to Boost Afghanistan’s Electricity Standards

The Breshna Company has announced that its CEO, Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, met with Akmal Jumanzarov, head of the Technical Regulations Department of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, to discuss expanding technical collaboration aimed at enhancing electricity standards in Afghanistan.

Discussion on the Development of Technical Cooperation

According to a press release from Breshna issued on Saturday, August 10, the two parties exchanged views on implementing technical standards within the electricity network, improving laboratory testing capacities, and adopting international standards.

The meeting underscored the importance of joint efforts to enhance the quality of technical services and build the specialized capacity of Afghanistan’s electricity sector.

Breshna’s Request for Technical Knowledge Transfer

The CEO of Breshna urged the Uzbek officials to cooperate on calibrating laboratory equipment to meet international standards, standardizing laboratories, establishing mobile laboratories, and providing specialized training for staff.

Breshna stated that implementing these initiatives could enhance the accuracy and speed of identifying and addressing technical issues within Afghanistan’s electricity network.

Uzbekistan’s Readiness to Collaborate

The Breshna press release indicated that the Technical Regulations Department of Uzbekistan has also expressed its willingness to collaborate in these areas.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued knowledge exchange, the implementation of international standards, improving service quality, and boosting the credibility of Afghanistan’s electricity sector.

Afghanistan’s Dependence on Electricity Imports

Afghanistan continues to rely heavily on neighboring countries for its electricity supply. Due to limited domestic production capacity, the country depends on electricity imports from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and other regional countries.

In this context, Breshna officials have highlighted the development of technical cooperation with electricity supplier countries as a crucial step toward strengthening energy infrastructure and improving the performance of Afghanistan’s electricity network.
