The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has recently responded to the consequences of border conflicts in eastern Afghanistan, highlighting that it has provided emergency humanitarian aid to over 18,000 affected citizens.
In its announcement, the NRC stated that it is expanding its support programs to address the urgent needs of families displaced due to the conflicts between the Taliban and Pakistan.
According to the statement, at least 9,500 individuals have received essential household items, kitchen equipment, and emergency shelter provisions. Additionally, around 7,000 individuals have benefited from health kits, and nearly 2,000 have received cash assistance; however, specific details regarding the amounts of these aids were not disclosed.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has expressed gratitude for the support from the Norwegian government, emphasizing that ongoing assistance is critical for the continuation of relief operations in Afghanistan. The organization had previously warned that thousands of families are being forced to leave their homes due to border conflicts and are living in dire conditions with limited access to essential services.
Taliban officials have also reported that as a result of the tensions and attacks linked to Pakistan, more than 27,000 families have been displaced across nine provinces in Afghanistan. In conclusion, the NRC highlighted the persistent and extensive humanitarian needs in border areas, urging the global community to maintain financial support and attention towards the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, which continues to leave millions reliant on aid.
