Afghanistan’s Cricket Team Triumphs Again Against Qatar in Preparation for Youth Asian Cup

Afghanistan’s national cricket team has secured another victory in their second practice match against Qatar. Held in Doha, Afghanistan set a target of 156 runs, while the host team managed only 135 runs, resulting in a defeat by 20 runs.

Dominant Victory Over Host Team

In the first innings, the Afghan players lost five wickets but successfully set a target of 156 runs for the hosts in 20 overs.

During the second innings, the Qatari team made an effort to chase down the set target, yet they fell short by losing eight wickets and ended with only 135 runs, ultimately facing a defeat by 20 runs against the Afghan side led by Darwish Rasouli.

It is notable that Afghanistan’s A team had previously defeated Qatar by 65 runs in their first practice match.

Preparing for the Youth Asian Cup

The Afghan national team is scheduled to face Qatar again tonight, Tuesday, in their third and final 20-over friendly match. These matches are part of Afghanistan’s preparation for the Youth Asian Cup 2025.

The Youth Asian Cup will kick off on November 14 in Doha, Qatar, featuring eight teams. Afghanistan is grouped with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong, with the Afghan Blue Tigers set to face Sri Lanka’s A team in their opening match on November 15.

It’s worth mentioning that Afghanistan’s A team claimed the Youth Asian Cup title last year in Oman after a decisive victory against Sri Lanka in the final. The entire tournament will be broadcast live and legally on Lemar TV.
