According to foreign media, Pope Francis, the leader of Catholics in the world, during his speech after the Angelus service in St. Peter’s Square, Vatican, said: One year has passed since the war in Ukraine and we must not forget this tragedy. Also, we should not forget the pain and suffering of the people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Referring to the overturning of a boat carrying illegal immigrants near the city of Crotone in the south of Italy and the death of more than 40 people, the Pope said: “Unfortunately, I heard about this painful incident today, about 40 people, most of whom were children, died. I ask for mercy for the dead and pray for the survivors.
