Taliban Celebrates Anniversary of U.S. Withdrawal from Afghanistan

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, marked the anniversary of the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan by stating that the Afghan people, through their determination and sacrifice, successfully expelled these forces from their country.

Mujahid: Afghans Force the U.S. Out of Afghanistan

Zabiullah Mujahid, the chief spokesperson for the Taliban government, spoke about the achievements of the Afghan people in driving foreign troops out of the country on the fifth anniversary of the last American soldier’s departure from Afghanistan. He claimed that Afghans were able to push back the U.S. and NATO through their efforts and sacrifices.

Mujahid described this day as a moment of pride for the Afghan people, explaining that the presence of foreign forces for 20 years was never supported by the general populace. He added that although foreign troops were in Afghanistan for two decades, there was never a demand for their continued presence, making this day a symbol of victory for the people.

Consequences of the Foreign Troop Withdrawal

According to Mujahid, the exit of foreign forces has created conditions for freedom, the end of war, and insecurity in Afghanistan, allowing Afghans to now focus on rebuilding and establishing a governance system that serves the entire nation.

Hamidullah Fatrat, the deputy spokesperson for the Taliban government, also emphasized the significance of this day in a separate statement, asserting that the Afghan people have demonstrated to the world that their efforts and sacrifices for freedom will bear fruit. He characterized the military presence of the U.S. in Afghanistan as a dark and bloody occupation.

Warning to Aggressors

Fatrat further warned that any country considering an attack on Afghanistan must understand that it is an indomitable land and a graveyard for empires.
