Panjshir Women Rally Against Taliban Genocide

In Panjshir province, a meeting was held with the participation of dozens of women activists aimed at discussing the challenges and strategies for defending themselves against the caretaker government. The women highlighted their systematic exclusion from society and the threats to their lives, demanding urgent attention to their dire situation.

These activists spoke about the psychological pressures, arbitrary detentions, forced displacements, and targeted killings that have occurred over the past five years, labeling these actions as examples of organized genocide. They emphasized the need for international organizations to take notice.

Call for International Recognition of Genocide

Participants at the meeting cited the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, defining the actions of the caretaker government as genocidal. The gathering issued a resolution calling for immediate actions from the global community.

The resolution underscored the importance of putting pressure on the caretaker government to restore women’s rights and recognize the events in Panjshir as genocide. Moreover, it urged that the protection of families, former military personnel, and youth at risk in this province should be a priority for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
