Severe Weather Warning: Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Expected Across Multiple Provinces

The Meteorological Department of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has issued a warning about the likelihood of heavy rainfall, sudden flash floods, and strong winds reaching speeds of 100 kilometers per hour across more than ten provinces in northern, western, central, and southeastern parts of the country.

Heavy Rain and Flash Floods Predicted

The Department of Meteorology, operating under the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, has released an announcement detailing the potential for severe rainfall accompanied by flash floods and destructive winds throughout various regions of the country. According to technical assessments of weather maps, the department has indicated that on Tuesday, July 20, many provinces will experience drastic climatic changes that necessitate preventive measures from residents.

Based on the agency’s statement, the provinces of Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, and Ghazni have been identified as vulnerable areas to this weather system. Forecasts suggest that rainfall in both highland and flat areas of these provinces will vary between 10 to 30 millimeters, significantly increasing the risk of river flooding and destructive flash floods.

Severe Winds Expected in Northern, Western, and Central Regions

Alongside the challenges posed by heavy rainfall, another concern addressed in this warning is the occurrence of seasonal strong winds. The country’s meteorological authority has announced that provinces situated in northern, western, central, and southeastern regions will experience winds ranging from moderately strong to destructive. Wind speeds during critical hours are anticipated to reach between 50 to 100 kilometers per hour, which could lead to dust storms and reduced visibility on highways.

Responsible authorities have urged all residents of the mentioned areas, particularly nomads, farmers, and travelers intending to pass through passes and routes near riverbanks, to avoid proximity to low-lying areas and natural floodplains to prevent loss of life and property damage.
