Severe Weather Warning: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Anticipated Across Multiple Provinces

The Meteorological Department under the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has issued a warning for severe rainfall, unexpected flash floods, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour in more than ten provinces across the northern, western, central, and southeastern regions of the country.

Potential Weather Disruptions Across Multiple Provinces

The Meteorological Department has released a statement indicating the likelihood of torrential rain accompanied by sudden flash floods and destructive winds in various parts of the country. According to technical assessments of weather patterns, the department highlighted that on Tuesday, July 20, many provinces are expected to experience extreme climatic changes, necessitating precautionary measures from residents.

According to the agency’s announcement, the provinces of Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, and Ghazni have been identified as vulnerable areas to this rain system. Predictions suggest that rainfall levels in both elevated and flat areas of these provinces will range from 10 to 30 millimeters, significantly increasing the risk of river flooding and destructive flash floods.

Severe Winds Expected in Northern, Western, and Central Regions

In addition to the challenges posed by heavy rainfall, the warning also addresses another concern: seasonal strong winds. The Meteorological Department has stated that provinces located in the northern, western, central, and southeastern regions will experience relatively strong to destructive winds. The peak wind speeds are estimated to reach between 50 and 100 kilometers per hour during critical hours, potentially leading to dust storms and reduced visibility on highways.

Authorities are urging all residents in the affected areas, especially nomads, farmers, and travelers planning to cross passes and roads adjacent to riverbeds, to avoid proximity to low-lying areas and natural floodplains to prevent loss of life and financial damage.
