Urgent Weather Alert: Flash Floods and Strong Winds Expected Across Afghanistan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has issued a warning regarding the likelihood of rainfall, flash floods, and strong winds across seven provinces of Afghanistan. Citizens are urged to take necessary precautions given the adverse weather conditions.

Seven Provinces at Risk of Rain

According to the ministry’s forecasts, the provinces of Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Khost, Paktia, and Paktika are expected to experience rainfall.

The Ministry of Meteorology has predicted that rainfall levels in various parts of these provinces will range from 10 to 35 millimeters, with a potential for flash floods in vulnerable areas.

Warning of Strong Winds

Additionally, the ministry has warned of winds reaching speeds of 50 to 100 kilometers per hour in central, eastern, southeastern, southern, and western Afghanistan.

These winds may be accompanied by dust, potentially reducing visibility, disrupting transportation, and causing damage to infrastructure and agricultural lands.

Safety Recommendations

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has requested residents in the aforementioned regions to heed warnings from authorities regarding the risks of floods and severe winds. They are advised to avoid riverbanks, flood-prone areas, and other hazardous locations.

The ministry emphasizes that adhering to safety recommendations can help prevent loss of life and property due to severe weather conditions.
