Iran Offers Support to Flood Victims in Nuristan Amidst Tragedy

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul expressed sorrow over the devastating floods in Nuristan province, extending condolences to the families of victims and those affected. Simultaneously, the deputy ambassador informed the governor of Nuristan about the impending delivery of aid from Iranian citizens and charities to the flood victims in the province.

 

In a recent message, the Iranian embassy in Kabul conveyed its condolences for the loss of life due to the flooding in Nuristan and other eastern regions of Afghanistan. They also wished a swift recovery for the injured.

The embassy emphasized solidarity with the Afghan people during this tragic event.

Deputy Ambassador’s Call with the Governor of Nuristan

In a phone call with Zainul Abidin Abid, the governor of Nuristan, Seyyed Hassan Moradzadeh, the deputy ambassador of Iran in Kabul, expressed his condolences for the casualties and damage caused by the recent floods.

He highlighted that despite the current sensitive conditions, the Islamic Republic of Iran stands by the people of Afghanistan, particularly the flood victims in Nuristan, and shares in the grief of the bereaved families.

Sending Aid to Flood Victims in Nuristan

The deputy ambassador also relayed the condolence message of the caretaker ambassador of Iran in Kabul, who is currently in Iran, to local officials in Nuristan.

Moradzadeh stated that aid from Iranian citizens and charities will soon be sent to support the flood-affected in Nuristan.

Governor of Nuristan Thanks Iran

Zainul Abidin Abid, the governor of Nuristan, expressed his gratitude for the condolences and support from the Islamic Republic of Iran, thanking the Iranian people for their solidarity with the flood victims in Afghanistan.

Previously, Fereydoun Sameem, the spokesman for the governor of Nuristan, reported that 105 individuals were missing in the provincial capital of Parun, including the mayor of the city and several government officials. Initial reports indicate that some bodies have been discovered in the affected areas, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
