The Afghan Senate House Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar has demanded the return of the First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum from Turkey.
Speaking during the general session of the Upper House of Parliament, Meshrano Jirga, Muslimyar said the return of Gen. Dostum would be better for the country and the government, considering the current situation.
Muslimyar said the government should step up efforts to pave the way for the return of Gen. Dostum to Afghanistan, emphasizing that the prestige and honor of the country and government is linked with the return of Gen. Dostum from Turkey.
He said the legal cases of Gen. Dostum should be followed through legal and judicial institutions.
This comes as President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday said that Gen. Dostum will likely return from Turkey in the near future.
However, he said the First Vice President of the country has legal cases and expressed hopes that the judicial institutions would take proper decisions in this regard.
Gen. Dostum left for Turkey over a year ago amid heightened tensions and controversies surrounding the kidnapping and sexual abuse of the former Jawzjan governor Ahmad Ishchi.
