Ariana News Agency: Ashraf Ghani thought the United States would never leave Afghanistan, said the former US envoy to Afghanistan.
“Zalmai Khalilzad”, the former US envoy to Afghanistan for peace, said in an interview with “CNN” that former US President “Donald Trump” had concluded that we are not winning the war in Afghanistan.
Khalilzad said that the war in Afghanistan was not a good one for all three US presidents.
“The main problem with peace in Afghanistan was the great distance between the government and the Taliban. Although the Afghan government later entered into peace talks, the Afghan president thought that the United States would never leave Afghanistan”: he reiterated.
In another part of the interview, Khalilzad said that Ghani may have been afraid of the Taliban when Kabul fell, but for whatever reason, he left the people alone.
