The World Bank, in its October 2023 report, has raised concerns about a significant rise in unemployment, particularly among the youth and women in Afghanistan.
The report reveals that nearly one in three young men, aged 14 to 24, seeking employment face unemployment, with the situation even more dire for young women in the same age group, where the unemployment rate is almost twice as high.
The World Bank’s report also sheds light on the challenges faced by both urban and rural areas, with the latter being heavily impacted by climate change-related issues, leading to increased poverty levels.
Furthermore, the World Bank’s findings indicate a startling trend in Afghanistan, with the unemployment rate doubling over the past two years.
