Afghanistan Reports Significant Export Growth Amidst Declining Imports

The National Statistics and Information Authority of the Taliban government has reported a noteworthy increase of $45.1 million in the country’s exports during the month of Mizan this year compared to the previous month, Sonbula. According to the official announcement, the total export value reached $274.9 million in Mizan, while imports decreased by $64.2 million, totaling $1.168 billion.

Significant Export Growth in One Month

The National Statistics and Information Authority under the Taliban government has released a statement indicating significant growth in the country’s export sector during the month of Mizan this year.

Based on the agency’s analysis, the total export value for the month of Mizan reached $274.9 million, an increase from $229.8 million in Sonbula. The figures show that the value of exports in the 1404 solar year (2025 Gregorian) rose by $45.1 million compared to the previous month of Sonbula.

Import Trends and Trade Balance

In contrast to the growth in exports, the import statistics for the month of Mizan reflect a decline. The total import value stood at $1.168 billion.

The agency reported that the total import value during Sonbula was $1.2327 billion; thus, a decrease of $64.2 million in imports for Mizan compared to the same month is evident.

Despite the rise in exports, a comparison between total exports ($274.9 million) and total imports ($1.168 billion) indicates that Afghanistan’s trade balance continues to face a gap of over $1 billion.

Key Trading Partners of Afghanistan

The data released by the National Statistics and Information Authority reveals that in Mizan, Afghanistan’s largest export destinations included India, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, while the bulk of imports came from Iran, China, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
