Deportation of Afghan Refugees from Switzerland; Human Rights Violation or Justice?

زندان پاکستان 550x295 - Deportation of Afghan Refugees from Switzerland; Human Rights Violation or Justice?

The Swiss Immigration Department has announced that 20 Afghan citizens convicted of crimes will be returned to Afghanistan in the coming months…

Details of the Deportation of Afghans

Swiss radio and television reported that in early 2024, three Afghan criminals were deported from the country and transferred to Kabul via a regular flight.

These individuals were deported after serving their sentences.

The Swiss police did not hand them directly to the Taliban but only escorted them to a transit flight.

Reactions to the Deportation of Migrants

This action by the Swiss government has faced criticism from human rights organizations.

Human rights defenders argue that deporting Afghan refugees to a country under Taliban rule puts their security and lives at risk.

Switzerland, however, has stated that it is currently only deporting criminals and other Afghan migrants are not affected by this decision.

Switzerland’s New Policy Toward Afghan Migrants

This is the first time since 2019 that Switzerland has resumed the deportation of refugees to Afghanistan. This decision comes amid a continued humanitarian crisis and human rights violations under Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
