The Saudi judicial authorities have extended the prison sentences of several religious detainees, including the children and brother of Sheikh “Safar Al-Hawali”, a prominent Saudi cleric, for another ten years.
After about five years had passed since the arrest of these people, the Saudi court issued cruel sentences against them and intensified the prison sentences against Abd al-Rahman, Abdullah and Abd al-Rahim, the children of Sheikh Safar al-Hawali. Their prison sentences were increased from 6 and 7 years to 16 and 17 years.
On the other hand, the Saudi court increased the sentence of Sheikh Saad al-Hawali, the brother of Sheikh Safar al-Hawali, from 4 years to 14 years.
The family members of Sheikh Safar al-Hawali were subjected to severe torture and insults during their detention.
