Focusing on Vital Issues for Afghans Residing

The Taliban embassy in the United Arab Emirates officially announced the meeting between Badruddin Haqqani, the ambassador of this embassy, and Sheikh Shukrallah Al-Mansouri, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of that country.

The main focus of the discussions between the two sides, in addition to examining bilateral relations, was centered on consular issues concerning Afghans residing in the United Arab Emirates. The most important topics raised included: compiling an accurate list of Afghans detained in the UAE, creating special facilities for families to visit detained Afghans, identifying a number of Afghans, access for dual nationals to their legal files in the host country, the issue of visa issuance for Afghans, and a promise of full cooperation from the UAE.

In this meeting, Sheikh Shukrallah Al-Mansouri referred to the efforts made by the Emirati government to address the consular and legal problems of Afghan citizens.

The UAE Foreign Minister assured the Taliban ambassador of his country’s full cooperation in addressing these issues. This meeting highlights the increasing importance of consular relations between the Taliban government and the United Arab Emirates concerning the situation of thousands of Afghans residing in the country.
