“Britain’s decision to deport refugees to Rwanda is completely wrong,” the United Nations refugee agency director said in a statement, AFP reported.

“The deportation of refugees and their transfer to Rwanda is a catastrophic record,” the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said in a statement.

Al-Mayadin reported that Britain had faced a lot of opposition following the controversial agreement that Britain signed with Rwanda. Under the agreement, refugees and asylum seekers who have crossed the English Channel illegally will be transferred to Rwanda.

According to Al-Mayadin, a British court is considering appeals as the first group of migrants is deported and transferred to Rwanda.

Although human rights defenders, the United Nations, the Church of England, and even the British royal family have criticized the plan, Prime Minister Boris Johnson intends to implement it. His goal is to prevent illegal immigrants from crossing the English Channel, and the project has increased since the Brexit.
