Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, has rejected Tajik President Emomali Rahman’s assertions regarding a surge in drug smuggling.

Mujahid contends that since the Taliban assumed power, all opium cultivation and drug trafficking out of Afghanistan have been effectively curtailed.

During his address at the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations, President Rahman of Tajikistan alleged a rise in drug smuggling originating from Afghanistan. He stated that his country’s border forces have seized over 10 tons of narcotics at the Afghan border within the past two years.

President Rahman emphasized, “Over the past two years, drug smuggling from Afghanistan’s territory has witnessed a significant escalation.

Tajikistan’s authorities have confiscated more than 10 tons of drugs during this period at the border with Afghanistan, a figure significantly higher than previous years.”
