Taliban Blames Pakistan for Airstrikes Amid Domestic Turmoil

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, has accused Pakistan of deflecting its internal crises by conducting airstrikes in Afghanistan. He described these actions as attempts to distract the public from the challenges facing the Pakistani government.

Taliban’s Accusation Against Pakistan Following Airstrikes

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban government, made a statement in Kandahar, alleging that Islamabad has conducted airstrikes within Afghan territory. He labeled these attacks as a targeted effort to shift public attention away from Pakistan’s internal issues.

Mujahid referenced the political and economic failures of Pakistani leaders, asserting they are attempting to divert public focus from domestic crises, restrictions on civil liberties, and widespread protests by escalating border tensions. He further claimed that these airstrikes are a tactic to evade commitments under a military agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, known as the “Mecca Agreement.”

Taliban’s Warning to the Pakistani Army

He accused the generals of the Pakistani army of following misguided policies that jeopardize the safety of Pakistani citizens and emphasized that the Taliban would respond appropriately and reciprocally to the “bullying approach of the Pakistani military regime.”

This reaction comes in the wake of Pakistani fighter jets bombing ten locations within Afghanistan early Thursday morning. Islamabad has characterized this action as a defense of its sovereignty against the encroachment of unmanned aerial vehicles.
