Ariana News Agency: An Afghan military official said the foreign forces shall leave Bagram base in less than three weeks.
According to French media, the Afghanistan military official declared that the American forces are preparing to hand over Bagram army base to the Afghanistani’s in twenty days. This is a new step in accelerating the exit of American forces.
This anonymous source said the handover of this base will probably take around twenty days.
An American army spokesman said: I admit we shall handover Bagram but I am not aware of the details and the schedule.
Since Oct 2001 US forces are in Afghanistan and that is 20 years of US meddling. US still has 2500 troops based In Afghanistan and without a doubt their exit will be done this summer.
The Bagram military base in Parvan Province is located 50 km north east of Kabul and is the most important operational base of Western forces in Afghanistan.
This military base was constructed by the USSR during their occupation of Afghanistan. At its peak of operations in 2011 it accommodated up to 300 thousand military and civilian forces of US and NATO including French forces. This base was also used as a detention center. Amnesty international has condemned this and mentioned of torture centers in its warehouses.
