Taliban’s Interior Minister Stresses University Role in Building Trust with Global Community

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, emphasized the government’s efforts to earn the trust of the global community during a recent meeting with students at Sheikh Zayed University in Khost, highlighting the essential role of universities in shaping the country’s future.

Taliban’s Efforts to Gain Global Trust

During his meeting with students at Sheikh Zayed University in Khost province, Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, underscored the vital role universities play in Afghanistan’s development and expressed the government’s commitment to foster international confidence in the nation.

Haqqani pointed out that Afghanistan’s success in the political and social arenas relies heavily on the activities of universities and their students. He also recognized the potential of the Afghan people, stating that they are “not untrustworthy” and, if given the chance, can advance and contribute significantly across various sectors.

A Call for Dialogue and Collaboration

The Minister further remarked that Afghans are inclined towards dialogue and consultation, asserting that the Taliban seeks to resolve the people’s issues rather than create additional problems. This statement comes amidst global calls for the Taliban to respect human rights and lift restrictions on education and employment for women.

Development and Independence of Afghanistan

While commemorating Afghanistan’s 107th Independence Day, Haqqani emphasized that independence is not just a word, but a principle that must be enacted. He noted that true independence is realized when the country maintains necessary security and meets its own needs.

He also stressed that today’s responsibilities, in addition to honoring the achievements of past generations, should include efforts to preserve freedom and enhance the living conditions of the people.
