Taliban’s Interior Minister Calls for Trust and Dialogue in Meeting with University Students

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Minister of Interior, met with students from Sheikh Zayed University in Khost and emphasized the government’s efforts to build international trust in Afghanistan, while highlighting the crucial role of universities in shaping the country’s future.

In a recent meeting with students at Sheikh Zayed University in Khost Province, Sirajuddin Haqqani discussed the significance of universities for Afghanistan’s development, stating that the government is keen on enhancing international confidence in the nation.

Haqqani articulated that Afghanistan’s success in political and social realms depends heavily on the activities of universities and their students. He pointed to the capabilities of the Afghan people, asserting that they are “not unreliable” and possess the potential for progress across various sectors if they are trusted.

Call for Dialogue and Cooperation

The Taliban’s Interior Minister further noted that Afghans are inclined towards dialogue and consultation, insisting that the Taliban aims to resolve issues for the people rather than create difficulties for others. These remarks come amidst international calls for the Taliban to respect human rights and lift restrictions on women’s education and employment.

During a ceremony marking the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, Haqqani reiterated that independence is not merely a word but a concept that must be realized. He stated that true independence is achieved when a country enjoys security and becomes self-sufficient.
