During a conference in Khost province, the acting Minister of Interior announced that security incidents in Afghanistan have neared zero. However, UNAMA has reported a 27.8% increase in security events.
Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Minister of the Interior of the interim government, stated at a conference held in Khost province that destructive security incidents in the country have stabilized. He noted a significant decline in hostilities nationwide following the events of Asad 1400 (Solar Hijri calendar) and remarked that a positive psychological environment and harmony among community members have developed.
Haqqani highlighted the crucial role of religious scholars and tribal leaders in reducing historical animosities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility that should not rest solely with the police forces. He emphasized that public cooperation is essential in this regard.
Continuing on, Haqqani discussed the country’s progress towards self-sufficiency and development, while warning against the attempts of malicious groups to spread anxiety and misinformation. Nonetheless, statistics from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) indicate that between September 14, 1404, and January 14, 1404, a total of 2,660 security incidents were recorded in the country. This figure reflects a 27.8% increase compared to the previous year.
Security experts assert that these statistics do not signify a return to full-scale wars, as a significant portion of these events includes investigative operations, criminal arrests, and border clashes. This situation mirrors the complex security landscape in Afghanistan and the ongoing challenges in achieving stability.
