Taliban Leader Calls for Unity and Respect in Eid Message

The leader of the Taliban, in his Eid al-Fitr message, emphasized the importance of establishing good relations with the world based on Islamic principles. He called for non-interference by countries in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and urged collective efforts to combat corruption and strengthen national unity.

Foreign Policy Based on Islamic Brotherhood and Mutual Respect

Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, outlined the fundamental principles of the government’s domestic and foreign policy in a comprehensive message for Eid al-Fitr. He stated that Kabul seeks to foster positive relations with the Islamic world on the basis of religious brotherhood while also wishing to establish beneficial relationships with other countries, founded on mutual respect and Islamic principles. The leader stressed the importance of maintaining political independence and urged all nations to respect the beliefs and values of the Afghan people, avoiding any interference in the country’s internal matters, as highlighted by the UN Security Council.

Combatting Corruption and Accountability of Religious Institutions

A significant portion of the leader’s Eid message was dedicated to domestic issues and social reforms. Mullah Haibatullah pointed to the activities of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, calling on all governmental institutions and the public to cooperate continuously with this ministry to eradicate corruption at various levels. He described the role of scholars as crucial in society, emphasizing that religious leaders have a religious duty to work towards reforming the beliefs of the youth, preventing immoral actions, and promoting good deeds within the community.

Emphasis on National Unity and Rejection of Ethnic Prejudice

In his message, the Islamic Emirate’s leader underscored that the dignity and honor of Muslims rest on their unity and solidarity. He urged the citizens to bolster the spirit of cohesion and to steer clear of any sectarian, linguistic, or ethnic biases. In this context, he emphasized firm support for the country’s security and defense forces as guardians of the Islamic system, highlighting that obedience to officials is essential for strengthening the foundations of the Islamic regime. He believes that only in the shadow of unity and distance from conflict will national stability and strength be enduring, a sentiment echoed by the Taliban Intelligence Chief.

At the conclusion of his message, Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada stressed the necessity for enhancing educational and training programs within the country. He called on relevant authorities to make greater efforts in building educational circles and reform programs aimed at educating the younger generation. Additionally, referring to the wave of returning Afghan migrants from neighboring countries, the leader of the Islamic Emirate urged the religious citizens to open their arms to welcome and assist their compatriots, collaborating in addressing their needs.
