Amir Khan Muttaki, the Foreign Minister of the Taliban, has stated that there is no need for negotiations with political and armed opponents, claiming that Afghanistan’s problems have been effectively resolved.

The Taliban Sees No Need for Talks with Political Opponents

In a statement, Amir Khan Muttaki emphasized that Kabul does not find it necessary to engage in negotiations with political and armed oppositions. He declared the initiation of a new political process unnecessary in the current circumstances.

Muttaki: Afghanistan’s Issues Have Been Resolved

In an interview with BBC, Muttaki dismissed claims of armed opposition presence within Afghanistan. He downplayed recent attacks by certain opposition fronts as not being a “serious problem.”

Muttaki: The Doors of Afghanistan Are Open for Opponents

The minister asserted that all Afghans have the right to return to their homeland and live in their own country. He noted that the doors of Afghanistan remain open for opponents wishing to return, but he does not feel the need for a new process to be established.

Lack of International Recognition Does Not Affect Governance

Regarding the lack of international recognition of the Taliban by countries around the world, Muttaki argued that this issue alone does not resolve Afghanistan’s problems. He believes that the current government is in a better position compared to its previous rule from 1996 to 2001.

Russia Is the Only Country Recognizing the Taliban

Five years after the Taliban regained power, the group still lacks recognition as the official government of Afghanistan on a global scale. Western countries have set conditions such as forming an inclusive government and respecting human rights for changing this status, while Russia remains the only country to formally recognize the Taliban.
