The German government has repatriated 31 Afghan nationals on a chartered flight to Kabul. According to statements made by Alexander Dobrindt, Germany’s Minister of the Interior, 30 of these individuals had been sentenced for serious crimes, and for the first time, a refugee without a prior criminal record, whose asylum application was rejected, was included among those expelled.

Direct Flight from Leipzig to Kabul

Authorities in Germany have announced that the process of deporting Afghan asylum seekers via dedicated charter flights continues. In the latest case, 31 Afghan citizens were flown directly from Leipzig/Halle Airport to Kabul International Airport. This deportation is part of Berlin’s renewed stringent policies regarding undocumented migrants and rejected asylum seekers.

In a statement to reporters, Minister Dobrindt emphasized that 30 of those deported were dangerous criminals convicted in Germany for offenses including murder, sexual assault, and acts of violence. However, he confirmed that one individual was expelled without any criminal history. After going through legal processes and having their asylum request ultimately denied, this person was required to leave Germany. This development marks a shift in expulsions, extending beyond criminals to include other rejected asylum seekers.
