Zamir Kabulov ضمیر کابلوف 550x295 - Zamir Kabulov: Russia will not follow the United States in recognizing the Taliban

Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan has said there is a possibility of recognizing the Taliban interim government.

Zamir Kabulov announced the possibility of Russia recognizing the Taliban government in Afghanistan and said: “Such a possibility is raised.” The conditions were set by both the Russian president and the foreign minister. The first step in this direction is forming a comprehensive and efficient political government. We have made this clear to our Afghan partners. In this case, the ground is prepared for serious negotiations.

“The Taliban are willing to cooperate with us and work under internationally accepted laws,” Kabulov said, stressing that Russia would not follow the US and other countries in recognizing the Taliban interim government. They understand Russia’s fundamental concerns about Afghanistan. These concerns are international terrorism and drug production.

” unlike all Western countries that have fled Afghanistan, The Taliban are fighting the ISIS terrorist group, which is an enemy not only to Russia but also other countries,” Kabulov said.
