Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, said: "The world is witnessing the oppression of Afghan women and their gradual removal from society."

Michelle Bachelet said at the 50th meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan in Geneva: “Currently, women are experiencing the greatest deprivation of their rights in recent decades.”

In his meetings with women inside the country, Michelle Bachelet added: “They want a direct and face-to-face dialogue with Taliban officials.”

Michelle Bachelet asked the Taliban to specify the date of reopening girls’ schools.

Michelle Bachelet emphasized that the Taliban should reduce the restrictions against women and provide work and education for women like in other Islamic countries.
