The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) tweeted that 8 children died while playing with unexploded ordnance and collecting metal scraps for sale in Afghanistan last week.

This organization added that unexploded ordnance has a destructive effect on children.

In 2022, more than 700 children were killed and maimed by unexploded ordnance and remnants of war in Afghanistan, according to UNICEF.
