The reaction of the Swedish Committee to the suspension of Swedish activities in Afghanistan

In response to the Afghan government’s recent decision to suspend any Swedish activities in Afghanistan, the Swedish Committee for Afghanistan said: “We are seeking a dialogue with the de facto authorities in Afghanistan to clarify whether the decision to stop Swedish activities in Afghanistan will affect the work of our organization.”

“We are independent and impartial and do not belong to the Swedish government. We have been working for more than four decades in rural areas of Afghanistan with “deep respect of both Islam and local traditions,” SCA has empathized.

The Swedish Committee has also strongly condemned any disrespect to the Holy Quran.

The Taliban government of Afghanistan announced: “The Islamic Emirate “de facto government” suspends Sweden’s activities in Afghanistan for granting permission to insult the Quran and the Muslim faith. The order will remain effective until Sweden apologize to the Muslims for this heinous act.”
