طالبان زندانی 550x295 - Reina Amiri: The Taliban must live up to its commitments to be recognized

Reina Amiri, the US special envoy for women and human rights in Afghanistan, says there will be no normalization of relations with the group until the Taliban fulfill its commitments to the Afghan people.

Amiri tweeted that she spoke with the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva about the situation of women and girls, Hazaras, Hindus, Sikhs, and civilians in Panjshir.

Reina Amiri said in a meeting with several Afghan women in London: “As long as the Taliban do not fulfill their obligations to the Afghan people, there will be no normalization of relations with this group.”

Amiri also met with several Hazara representatives in London and said they had recorded 250 targeted attacks against the Hazara community over the past two decades.

According to Amiri, representatives of the Hazara community call on the world to recognize this violence and put pressure on the Taliban to prevent future attacks.
