Hamed Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, says that the ban on girls' education in Afghanistan is not at the will of the Afghan people and according to the rules of Islamic Sharia.
Hamed Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, said in a conversation with the German magazine Spiegel:
“Prohibiting girls from going to school is not based on the rules of Islam, but it is done by order of the neighboring country, Pakistan.”
He states, “Pakistan’s goal is a defenseless, weak and poor Afghanistan where there are no problems or obstacles for them.”
Karzai added: “Without educated women, we are a dead country. The Taliban cannot take the achievements of the past 20 years from the people.”
Karzai added, “Millions of boys and girls have been educated over the past two decades. The society of Afghanistan has become modern. Therefore, the Taliban cannot easily take these achievements from the people.”
