The United Nations has raised an alarm over the alarming levels of food insecurity in Afghanistan.

The World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations have jointly expressed their deep concern over the unprecedented levels of food insecurity and hunger in 18 regions around the globe.

According to these organizations, Burkina Faso, Mali, South Sudan, and Sudan are at the highest level of concern and require urgent attention.

This report identifies Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Haiti, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen as areas of great concern.

Earlier, the World Bank reported that the unemployment rate in Afghanistan has doubled since the Taliban assumed control of the country.
