Acting Taliban Defense Minister: The United States should not obstruct the new Afghan government

Acting Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid said in a news conference that the Taliban were ready to start economic and political relations with the United States and that the “20-year war” should become a new mentality between the two sides.

Yaqub Mujahid also called on the United States not to create obstacles for the new Afghan government.

In addition, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, referring to Thomas West’s recent trips to Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Tajikistan, said: “If the United States wants peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region, Thomas West’s trips are useful; Provided he convinces the Taliban opposition abroad to return and renounce any opposition.

Mujahid said: “If Thomas West’s goal is to stimulate the Taliban opposition against this group and peace and stability, it will not end in favor of the United States.”
