An unprecedented increase in rape in US military academies

The Pentagon’s new research shows that the number of cases of sexual assault and harassment in educational centres and military colleges in the United States increased by 18% last year, which is a record compared to 2006, when this research was first conducted.

According to this report, parts of which were published by CNN, 1,136 men and women were sexually assaulted in the American military academies last academic year, and 3,939 people also experienced some form of sexual harassment by their fellow students.

Also, the belief of female students regarding the efforts of military academy officials to prevent rape and sexual harassment has decreased from 72% to 59% over the past year.
