Taliban Marks Five Years Since Kabul Takeover with Call for Unity and Independence

Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, stated on the fifth anniversary of Kabul’s takeover that any threats against Afghanistan’s independence will be met with failure and urged Afghans to strive for the preservation of their country’s freedom and autonomy.

In remarks marking the fifth anniversary of the Kabul takeover, Zabiullah Mujahid, a senior official of the Taliban government, emphasized that any attempts to threaten Afghanistan’s sovereignty will be thwarted. He referred to August 15 as a symbol of freedom and autonomy for the nation and urged future generations to remember the sacrifices made by their predecessors.

Mujahid highlighted that the message of August 15 to the Afghan people is to maintain their unity and solidarity in order to safeguard the country’s independence. He warned Afghanistan’s enemies that if they harbor ill intentions against the nation, they will face a similar fate.

Taliban Spokesperson: Afghanistan’s Foreign Relations Are Improving

The spokesperson also discussed Afghanistan’s foreign relations, stating that the governing body is striving to establish “good and constructive” relationships with various countries. Mujahid described Afghanistan’s relations with its neighbors as mostly positive, with one exception.

He cited security as one of the Taliban’s major accomplishments, asserting that the security forces are prepared to maintain stability. Mujahid encouraged Afghans living abroad to return to their homeland without fear, adding that, under a general amnesty, no one is prohibited from returning to Afghanistan.

Mujahid emphasized the strengthening of economic infrastructure as one of the Taliban’s priorities, stating that these infrastructures will become sources of income in the coming years. According to him, Afghanistan is moving toward self-sufficiency.
