Taliban Foreign Ministry Expresses Condolences to Iran Over Tabas Mine Tragedy The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan’s caretaker government has extended its condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the people and government of Iran, following the tragic Tabas coal mine explosion. In an official statement, the ministry expressed its deep sorrow upon learning of the mine explosion in Iran, which claimed dozens of lives. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the nation and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and pray for God’s mercy on those who lost their lives,” the statement read. The explosion, caused by a gas leak, occurred in one of the workshops of the Tabas coal mining company at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21. The Iranian Red Crescent Organization has confirmed that the death toll from the incident has risen to 35.
