Talks with the Taliban’s Foreign Minister

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday that Amir Khan Muttaqi has held discussions with Abbas Araqchi regarding bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

During the conversation, Muttaqi emphasized that stability in the region and expanding cooperation are among Afghanistan’s core priorities. Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of ongoing dialogues among regional countries as part of Tehran’s efforts to strengthen collaboration. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also released a statement reiterating Araqchi’s readiness to continue working towards peace and stability in the region.

Tehran and Moscow Agree on Dialogue for Resolving Disputes

In conjunction with Iran’s intense diplomatic push, Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Sergei Lavrov has discussed regional issues, particularly the ways to resolve disputes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi.

According to a report by the Interfax news agency, both ministers stressed that the political differences arising between Kabul and Islamabad should be resolved exclusively through dialogue.

Pakistan Welcomes Mediation Efforts

It is important to note that as Araqchi engages with Russian and Taliban officials regarding the tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, he had previously proposed his country’s mediation to resolve the issues between the two neighboring countries.

On Sunday, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its acceptance of Iran’s proposal. Zahid Hussain Andarabi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Islamabad would not decline Iran’s offer for mediation, adding that Iran is a friendly and brotherly neighbor.
