Iran, Taliban, and Russia Unite for Regional Stability Talks

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, engaged in talks with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban Foreign Minister, and Sergei Lavrov, his Russian counterpart, as part of regional efforts to resolve tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.

Discussions with the Taliban Foreign Minister

The Taliban Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that Amir Khan Muttaqi had a conversation with Abbas Araqchi focused on bilateral relations and recent regional developments.

During this discussion, Muttaqi emphasized that stability in the region and the enhancement of cooperation are among Afghanistan’s primary priorities. Meanwhile, Araqchi reiterated Iran’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and the importance of ongoing dialogue among neighboring countries. The Iranian Foreign Ministry, in a separate statement, underscored Araqchi’s readiness to continue efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.

Tehran and Moscow Agree on Dialogue to Resolve Differences

In tandem with Iran’s vigorous diplomatic push, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that Sergei Lavrov had spoken with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi regarding regional issues, particularly ways to address the challenges between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to reports from the Interfax news agency, both ministers underscored the necessity of resolving the emerging political disputes between Kabul and Islamabad exclusively through dialogue.

Pakistan Welcomes Mediation Efforts

It is noteworthy that as Araqchi holds discussions with both Russian and Taliban officials about the tensions between Kabul and Islamabad, he previously put forth an offer to mediate the issues between the two neighboring countries.

On Sunday, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry confirmed its acceptance of Iran’s mediation proposal. Tahrir Hussain Andarabi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, stated that Islamabad would welcome Iran’s offer for mediation, emphasizing that Iran is a neighboring country that they consider a brotherly and friendly nation.
