Continuing the Taliban’s efforts to develop economic relations with regional countries, the group’s ambassador in Azerbaijan met and discussed with Kanan Najafov, the deputy of this country’s State Oil and Gas Company (SOCAR).

In this meeting, both sides discussed the expansion of trade cooperation, increasing oil exports, and overcoming transportation and transit challenges between the two countries.

Najafov, emphasizing Azerbaijan’s desire to strengthen economic relations with Afghanistan, said: SOCAR is ready to establish closer cooperation with Kabul in the fields of energy and commerce and I hope to soon visit Afghanistan to explore joint opportunities.

This meeting took place within the framework of the Taliban government’s economy-oriented policy to expand regional relations and attract investment in the energy sector.

Officials from both countries also agreed to continue discussions for the implementation of joint projects and to strengthen oil and gas cooperation.
