Taliban Condemns U.S. Drones Violation of Afghan Airspace

The Taliban’s spokesperson has stated that U.S. drone aircraft are entering Afghan airspace without any prior coordination or permission, labeling this act as a blatant violation of national sovereignty.

Violation of Airspace by Neighboring Countries

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban government, accused the United States of infringing on Afghan airspace during an interview with a foreign media outlet. Mujahid asserted that American drones are entering the country’s airspace without prior coordination and consent.

He remarked, “We are fully aware that American drones have been operating in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power, and we find this situation regrettable.”

He further noted that these drones traverse the airspace of certain neighboring countries before entering Afghanistan. Mujahid emphasized that this constitutes a clear violation of Afghan airspace and called for an immediate halt to these flights. The Taliban spokesperson stated that the interim government has raised its objections in meetings they have participated in, urging an end to violations of Afghan sovereignty.

Reiteration of Taliban’s Commitment Regarding TTP

In another segment of the discussion, Mujahid addressed the activities of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) within Afghanistan. He emphasized that the Taliban government will not permit the TTP to operate on Afghan soil and create security concerns.

Mujahid pointed out that this issue had previously been communicated to the Pakistani negotiating team and reiterated that they would never allow Afghan territory to be used against Pakistan or any other country.
